Adrien Ouaki is a French stage director/filmmaker and choreographer. He studied dance at the Paris-based International Dance Academy (AID). After graduating at the age of 21, Adrien further enriched his knowledge of contemporary dance by attending workshops with first-class choreographers such as Hofesh Shechter, Wim Vandekeybus, Ohad Naharin, James Thierrée and Crystal Pite.
During his career as a dancer, he worked for many companies and choreographers in France and abroad such as Giuliano Peparini & Franco Dragone, Itzik Galili, and Raphaëlle Boitel.
Adrien has been passionate about stage directing and filmmaking for many years.. He has directed his own short films, such as Dust of Life, Contact, The Line, Wild, Silence of tears (shot in Orsolina 28) and The Loners. They have been well received in many international festivals: San Francisco, Paris, Santiago (Chile), London, Lisbon, Valencia (Spain), Salt Lake City (Utah), Thessaloniki, Helsinki and Bucharest.
- Dust of Life has been part of Yad Vashem’s Visual Center collections for more than ten years.
- The Line received the Best Film award at the 2017 Bucharest International Dance Film Festival.
- Wild was awarded the 2018 Utah Dance Film Festival prize for Best Choreography .
- In September 2018, Adrien was invited to be part of the jury at Bucharest International Dance Film Festival.
Wishing to bring together a diversity of artists and establish a unique vision of the stage, in 2023 he creates Opendor Company and ‘A Cloud Story’, a one hour piece with six dancers.
In 2024, he choreographed the tour of the singer Pierre De Maere and signed the choreography for prestigious brands like Chaumet, Maison Bernardaud & Grand Mazarin.
He also collaborated with Jonathan Stueur to choreograph the last sequence of Till The End a short film with 150 dancers shot a Chateau de Fontainebleau . Choreographer on the last episode of Timeless, a project by the composers Lina Pamart & Emmanuel Leclerc shot at Musée Gustave Moreau.
